Default RE: Stalling when fan kicks on

I went through and respliced every wire that had originally been cut. I haven't had the problem with it stalling but I'll have to wait and see when summer temps. come around. As a few people mentioned it really only occurs when your sitting at a light and it starts to get hot without the air flow cooling it down. I think marc0011 could be right about the battery thing, I know mine was just replaced last year so it would have to be with the charging system. In the mean time I have some maintenance to do this week, change oil and what not and am planning on changing the coolant with some engine ice to see if that helps keep it cooler. Good luck to everyone else with this problem.

I've been thinking about the battery possibility and I don't believe that could be the cause simply because the starter will draw the most amps of any part of the bike and certainly many times what the punyfan would draw, so the question that is asked would be, how could the bike start with the starter engaged if the battery was weak?

Also the charging system must be fine, since it starts consistantly when cold...something is shorting to ground or close to it when the fan/solenoid/relay engages...then again I have been drinking...so forget anything I wrote.

I have the same problem with my bike. Its a 96 600. Im not sure if it dies when the fan kicks on or not because I have the helmet on and am on the road. I am curious to find out what it is. My bike usually dies out when it has been running for 20 min or so...

I found that on mine if I dim my head light with the fan on it runs fine but if the lamp is on bright it will then begin to studder at stop sings, I tested my battery. 13 volts when shut off then like 12.59 with the key on and 12.99 or higher running so my charging system is fine and when the fan is on it still only dips down to about 12.3 or so but I can run the bike up to about 5 grand or so and the volts will come back up to 13.
