staling and no start problem
hey guys, i have a problem with my 98 600se.
about a month ago my batery went and when i was riding it use to stall when i came to complete stop, droped new battery in and no problems at all. now 3 days ago i was coming home from a ride where it stalled out on me at the light when i came to stop and it wouldnt start back up. today i droped new plugs in and started right up but when i went for a ride it stalled out on me after about 15 miles and same thing is hapening, no start. it cranks over and catches for a split second and dies. any idea what it could be??? i need to get it fixed asap. my bike is my only way of transportation due to blowen head gasket on my windstar.

What color was the plugs?
First step would be to try and figure out if this is Air/fuel related or if this is electrical. Check the R/R and that you are getting good spark. pull the plugs make sure you are getting fuel.
When was the last time the carbs have been serviced?

to tell you the truth i have no idea if they were ever servised. i bought the bike 3 years ago with 8k miles on the clock. now it has 20k. i must be getting spark since i have ran the bike for 15 miles today. what whould the r|r be? i know there is a part that goes on hondas about 20k. its the electrical box thats on the rear of the bike under the seat. is that the r|r?
you have to exuse me because i dont know all the names. im not a bike mech.

Here is a How-to on checking its functionality

Ok, so the R/R probably is not your problem if the bike will run. Sounds like the problem is in the carbs or valves, most likely the carbs considering the mileage. When you replaced the plugs what color was the tip of the plugs?
Check around for any vacuum leaks any hoses that may have cracks/ pinched.
If you have not serviced the carbs yet its about time to do so, pull them off and give them a good cleaning and sync. it would be a good idea to at least check your valve clearance while the carbs are off its not hard and does not take too much time.

Here is a link to a good guide to reading spark plugs. Being able to effectively read spark plugs will help guide you to any problems and help tune.
Make sure to sync the carbs after you clean them out, the bike will run like new!
Here is a link to a cheap homemade sync tool. I've used them many times they work great.

this is what i did.....
the battery died from trying to start it. i hooked up the car battery to it to start it. it runs fine with the power at its best. the only thing ive noticed is clicking sound coming somwere around the back and when i looked closer ive noticed the clicking made the tights dim at the time of the click and same with the fuel pump when ive touched it it felt like it cut off for a split second in the time of the click......could this be the rectifier???

if anyone doesn't think it's the a rectifier plase let me know asap. I don't want to go and buy one if there is no need. And if I do, I know there is some people who sais that suzuki rectifier is better so I would need the year and the model I should get to make it work. Thx.
