Thanks for the responses.

Yeah the chain (RK) and sprockets (AFAM) have at most 11K on them...the perpedicular motion does seem exessive, probably due to wear.

I'll look into the Vortex brand. Thanks.

not to mention you'd be at a much greater risk of the chain slipping off the sprocket and tearing up the bike and possibly your foot in the process
and probably some side-to-side perpendicular chain movement

Vortex sprockets all the way!
great product; great company
+1
I only use Vortex stuff on my bike.
mixing different pitch/gauge chains is like trying to use gas in a diesel engine. bad idea.

Well I got everything changed out, 525 front/rear/chain. Still a little perpendicular movement with the D.I.D and Vortex.

I ended up cutting my chain too short one link the first time. Crap! With the way I was looking at it, I would have needed to cut only a half a link out which you can't. Anyways, I had to add a link with another connection link. I don't like having two of my own links, but I don't want to by a new chain. Could drop teeth in the rear too I guess.

The extra link in the chain makes it a little longer than I wanted, which I believe is due to not having dropped a tooth in the front (still 16 teeth).

Oh yeah, how do you get the front sprocket off, special tool? I would either turn over the motor or turn something in the transmission. I ended up using the old chain to hold the old and new sprockets to get them on/off.

I could be way off, but new chains and sprockets make differnt sounds. I don't know if you went from stock to after market brand? I know some stock sprockets sometimes have rubber on them to help eleminate sounds. Then you notice the sound when you have steel or aluminum without the rubber. Just a guess.....
