Default sprocket question round 2, do i need to change them?

just to make sure the mechanic got it right, since they often dont, do you guys think i need to change the rear sprocket and chain?

http://s732.photobucket.com/albums/w...current=23.jpg

the chain is still away from the "new chain" mark and for some reason the mechanic didnt leave the nuts with the same distance on both sides as u can see in the pics int he same album. tho the rear is very balanced and moves with a lot more freedom and ease than b4.....you're guys opinions?

the chain and sprocket are a 520 conversion with -1/43 gearing
pics of front sprocket coming soon*

teeth not pointy but looks to be odd wear in the radius (inbetween teeth). I seen alot of Vortex sprockets wear out way b4 they should have. If you can afford it, I say replace the whole set (both sprockets n chain).

wow, how did you know it was a vortex sprocket? and yeah, that's why I was asking if i should replace it now, since the wearing is kind of odd to me, but the teeth are still not that pointy and still have like half of its flat top surface

Ur sproket does look to have just a bit of wear on the out side of it. An alignment of the chain will fix that. As for the chain it self needs a good scrub and lube. Its a hards to see for sure with the photo but that is my best guess.

Yeah, you're not in any real risk, yet, but the chain IS putting a lot of force on the outside of the sprocket. Take the chain off, soak it in carb cleaner and scrub it clean, then lube the hell out of it. Put it back on and adjust the alignement and slack.

Vortex's are made of a VERY soft aluminum, and thus wear out VERY fast. If you're not racing competitively, I'd reccomend going with soemthing steel next time you swap them. What's the pitch of your setup? Most people who go vortex end up dropping down to 520, which they end up replacing after only a couple thousand miles. Not a good deal unless you're sponsored. If you're at 520 and that worn, I'd reccomend with replacing the whole set with a 525 or 530 setup.
