Default Whinning noise from front sprocket/trans area after chain/sprocket change

Hi everyone, I changed my chain and sprockets the other day and now I have a speed related whining noise coming from the front sprocket area. I used a chain and sprocket kit with -1/+2 sprockets and a 530 o ring chain. I had a shop redo the master link because I was concerned the clearance was wrong and it.still makes the noise.

Now what scares me is I removed the front sprocket with an impact with the bike in gear. A buddy of mine who works on bikes for a living said it shouldn't mess up the trans, but I read on here it could. So far as I can tell nothing is rubbing up there, and the chain looks pretty straight.

Any ideas? Right now the bike is my dd and I'm worried about possible transmission issues. Any help would be.greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advanced, and sorry for any typos, I'm on my phone.

Could be that the chain is too tight. How is your slack adjustment?...is it in spec?

I'm with Gotcbr, sounds like the chain is too tight. Loosen it up a little and see if it changes anything.

Also I should note my trans always made a slight whine when down shifting to first. Well it still does this, in a slightly different tone then the mystery whine. Don't know if that helps at all. Just hoping I didn't.destroy my trans. It still shifts fine and stays in gear, it's just loud.

Chain is adjusted within spec. I'll try loosening it a bit to see if it helps, although it seems a little on the loose side already.

I've been reading how aftermarket sprockets don't have the rubber dampener, although this seems too loud to be just that. Also ready how it may be a trans/output shaft bearing, but we'll see I guess.

I'm going to loosen the chain back a hair, keep riding, and let you know how it goes.

In my experience, CBRs like the slack adjustment on the loose side (still w/in spec tho).

Some brands of chain just whine more than others. Could you just have a noisy chain by chance?

I hope so. Chain still whines when its on the loose side. Hopefully it will just fix itself with time.
