we have a 99 900rr with a temporamental speedometer. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. has anyone else had problems with theirs, and did you fix or replace it? thanks

 

Had that problem with a bike I use to have...it may not be the speedometer but the cable going down to the front wheel. It could be worn out or stripped.

I have the same problem - sometimes it reads

the speed, sometimes it doesn't. How do you fix it?

 

mine did that when my battery was dying.....fixed when i got a new battery....(dead meaning it would not hold a charge)

 

99 900RR have the speedo driven off the countershaft sprocket pick up sensor....check the wiring down there and make sure nothing is corroded..and it could be the battery as well, or a connection on the back of the guages

 

I have 954 03 speedo works sometimes but not most. Dose any one lnow specifics on the speed sensor or wireing leding to speed sensor

 

what about if the light doesnt work is that just a bulb or do you need to replace the whole speedo?

 

if your speedo is not registering start with the cheap stuff and replace the cable. you can get a replacement for like 8-14$. Its an easy fix all you have to do is get behind the instrument cluster and take off the old speedo cable and install the new one. scale of one to ten diff 1!!!!!
