Default Speedo semi working

I have a 98 CBR900RR. I race with this bike. The speedo will work up to about 100 MPH, then after that nothing. When I go back below approx. 100 it will start working again. The speed sensor looks good, from what I can tell from taking it out.

Any suggestions, thoughts?

thanks.

Is it cable operated or electronic (has a speed sensor). If it is the latter it could be a faulty sensor or if it is cable operated then it could be the cable is slipping either at one end or the other. It could also be the speedo, but will need a little more info to help troubleshoot via the web.

The bike has a speed sensor. took it out looks good to me. disconnected the plug and put an ohm meter to the plug turned on bike and got a reading a little above 11. don't know what it should be but to me its getting power. how can you tell if its bad sensor.

I don't have a wiring diagram for a 900 or a manual. But I imagine your speed sensor is like the F3's. It has 3 wires going to it, 12v, Gnd, and an output. That output should go from 0-5v as you rotate the rear wheel with the bike supported and rear wheel off the ground. You'd have to check a manual to be sure of it's operation.
