Default speedo not working

Whenever I start my bike up and first start riding, the speedo won't register anything until the temp guage is about halfway up. Then the speed suddenly registers and the needle jumps up. Anyone else have this problem? Is it common for CBRs?

still no one has anything to say about this? I think it's a serious problem. When the speedometer isn't working, miles aren't counting on the ODO, too. What do I do to fix this??

I don't believe the speedo nor the odometer are driven mechanically. They run off a pulse generator in the motor which is counted digitally by the speedo and the odometer. Being as the factor here is temp, I would first check electrical connections but it could be a failing pulse generator.

my honda civic does the same exact thing....but now it mostly doesnt work at all anymore, the only thing I havent changed on that is the gauages.

if its affected by heat it would most likely be electrical issue. I would get an electrical diagram and go from there.
