somethings wrong!!
i am near huntington beach and newport. does anyone know of any good mechanics? i am willing to drive a little bit if you know some helpful ones. i know there is a honda shop on beach and ellis slater, but they are a little out of my price range sometimes.
so, my dad knows quite a bit about working on cars, so we started to trouble shoot my bike. we downloaded the manual for it and started to work. we first thought it was the fan... when the bike would heat up, the fan would not turn on. we by-passed the fan motor switch and put the wire striaght to the fan, and the fan popped on. so we figured that it had to be the fan motor switch. we replaced that and moved on to our next problem, the oil light. we first made sure that the oil was filled up to the right amount. then we figured it would be good to check the oil pressure switch. we asked the guy at the honda shop, and he said that the oil pressure switches usually don't break, but that could be the case. so we purchased a brand new oil pressure switch, and put it in. We started it up and let it run for a bit, only to see the temp shoot up again. Here are the funny things that happened: 1. the oil level through the port hole never moved up or down, and 2. we took out the new oil pressure switch and there was no oil in it. ( the old on had oil in it, so we figured that oil had to go across there).
so now we are in the middle of taking apart the crank case and pulling out the oil pump. you guys have any ideas? are we on the right track? is there anything else we might want to check?
by the way thank you who are staying with me, you have been very helpful.

well, the chain for the oil pump snapped and the oil pump wasn't working right. that seems to be the problem. we are in the middle of finding the pieces that snapped off of the chain in the sump and then we will order a new oil pump and chanin for it. i think we have it figured out. thanks for your help!
