Im pretty sure 16/45 is stock, down 2 in the rear thats just odd, thing must be a dog. If you take out one link and its too tight then changing rear sprocket wont help either, if you add one tooth that will be like taking out one link. You sure the chain is good and low miles? Maybe the seller lied to you? I guess if it were me i would get a new chain and sprockets, that way im sure i have good equipment, probably a gear change too if it could use some pep.

so I took a long nap and figured out what went wrong.

I removed two links and it was too much.

can I get away with running two master links ( Rivet Style ) until I can afford a new chain and sprockets? [/align]

When the link wont come off, then a tad more. It should look like the rest. You dont want to go too much though, it will bind up the link. Sorry i dont have a great answer for ya, its just a by feel kinda thing for me.
