Default Salvage bikes any good?

Im a newb here and was wondering if investing in a salvaged bike would be a smart idea? I was looking on ebay and i found this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2002-...QQcmdZViewItem
Would investing in salvaged bikes be a good idea. I dont want nothing new for my first bike so would getting one be smart?

Hey man,
The bike looks good, I dig the naked side-looks money All the ad says is that the forks and frame "appear" to be straight, are you willing to risk them not being so? Bent forks are replaceable, a bent frame and you're basically stuck with it. With salvage title bikes, you have to take the seller's word that there is nothing else wrong with the bike beyond what they tell you, and who knows how trustworthy they are? I see s-title bikes as a gamble because you might get lucky.

Salvage bikes can be tricky but most of the time if the seller on Ebay is going to be honest they will provide a phone number. Try to buy close to where you live so you can look at the bike (if you have the knowledge) for any major problems. Frontal impacts are usually the worst since the frame tends to absorb all of the damage. I am in the market for a salvage 2003-2005 GSXR 600 right now and have been lucky enough to look at the bikes before I buy and I have seen some nasty lookin' bikes. Hope this helps.

I bought a salvage bike for a project and never had a problem, usually salvaged bikes are just damaged bikes with alot of different parts touched or like mine a small dent in frame, if intrested i got a 954 for sale... take a look in classifieds - title is custom 2002 chrome rims
