Default Salvage/Non-Repairable Title Bikes?

I was just brousing through some salvage title bikes across the country on various website. I was thinking that for a dedicated track bike, you could pick up a Non-Repairable title bike for next to nothing and rebuild couldnt you? Some of these Non-Repairable title bikes arent THAT bad. They might require 1K of repair for a bike that is less that 3-4 years old. Most of them just have the front fairings smashed off, or some road rash around them.

Alot of newer (2006-2009) bikes out there that have been wrecked for dirt cheep.

I was on this site, which does require a free registration.

My track bike is a salvage title. No problem for the track.

Salvage titles only affect resale and registration. If you trailer it to the track, you don't have to worry about registration

For bikes with salvage titles that say "Must be reconstructed in XX state" does that mean that the bike can only be registered in that state?

Lemme guess: Alabama?

There's a place selling nice looking bikes with Alabama salvage titles. I almost bought one. Problem any vehicle with an Alabama salvage title doesn't just have to be retitled in Alabama. The repairs also must be done in Alabama, by a bonded & certified mechanic.

So if you're hoping for a cheap street legal bike, forget it. Track only, yeah

I'm A Homosexual -- PM Me
Well I think we all know who's the girl in this relationship.

On the salvage bike thing.... some states are different than others and it's pretty complicated sometimes. I'd check with your local DMV and see what they say.
