Default Rev indicator

Hi,

My question is at what level (rpm) would the Rev indicator would come on? Yesterday, I was at a light and as the light turn green- I made the mistake to catch up with a gsxer 1000? At some point notice high revs and the rev indicator turning amber (close to red zone or may be past to red zone for few seconds). Do I need to take my bike to the shop to see if I screwed up - at 4500 it kinda sound different.

Thanks,

Were you bouncing the engine off the rev limiter? (way above redline) Even if you were, you would have to do it for a long time (were talking minutes) for it to do any sort of real damage to your engine. It sounding different is probably just in your head. I wouldn't worry about it unless your engine is sputtering and sounding like it's chewing itself apart.

Oh, and the rev light kicks in (on a 06 600RR) right before redline........which is about 15,000 RPM.

+1...When the mechanical noises are louder than the voices in my head I start to worry.

i bounce off the rev limiter a lot. my engine still runs. bouncing off the rev limiter for a couple of seconds shouldnt hurt anything.
