Default Reserve Indicator for CBR F4i

Hi Y'all,

I was wondering if you all can help me with a problem that I have with my 2001 Cbr 600 F4i. I have notice that when I am starting my bike the reserve indicator comes on and then is disappears and doesn't come back on. I wanted to know if this has happened to any of you and how did you fix it.

I was wondering if there is a fuse that I need to change or do I need to change the reserve sensor. I checked the manual, but didn't see anything of a fuse or where the fuse box is located.

If it is the reserve sensor, how much does it cost for the part and is it easy to change. Right now, I don't know when I am running out of fuel and how much I got left.

If you have pics of what you did step by step, please send them as well.

Thanks

Hi. I have recently bought a 2002 cbr F1 and to be honest I can't remember seeing the reserve fuel level indicator coming on at start up. It may do as part of the HISS system if that is what you have on your bike? It self checks everything and if all is well allows you to start your bike. I think the reserve fuel level indicator only comes on permanently if you get down to around three and a half litres and I remember seeing this in my Haynes manual the other day. Next time I start the bike I'll have a look and if others haven't replied I'll let you know what happens. I assume you have a near-full tank at the moment. See if the indicator comes on as you use more fuel. Good luck!

Mine comes on when I power the bike on, but turns off immediately after.

I thought that was how it was supposed to work.

Checked my bike today and the indicator does come on for a few seconds and then disappears exactly as Comodidit said. This is normal and as I mentioned in my last reply, the indicator will only come on when you get down to approx. 31/2 litres. No need to replace anything! Hope this clears up things?

Hi Guys,
I have a similar problem. My indicator comes on when I start the bike and it does the self check then goes off. The problem is, it WILL NOT come back on even when the fuel is low. Found that out the hard way. Is it the sensor? Can it be replaced? or is it part of the fuel pump assembly?

It would probably be best to ask this in the F4i section. The F4 and F4i have different setups as far as I know. The F4 fuel pump is external.

Will do thanks.
I just didn't find a thread about it there so I figured I'll ask here.

Maybe the sensor needs cleaning under the tank?
