Default Reserve Indicator

Hi Y'all,

I was wondering if you all can help me with a problem that I have with my 2001 CBR 600 F4i. I have notice that when I am starting my bike the reserve indicator comes on and then is disappears and doesn't come back on. I wanted to know if this has happened to any of you and how did you fix it.

I was wondering if there is a fuse that I need to change or do I need to change the reserve sensor. I checked the manual, but didn't see anything of a fuse or where the fuse box is located.

If it is the reserve sensor, how much does it cost for the part and is it easy to change. Right now, I don't know when I am running out of fuel and how much I got left.

If you have pics of what you did step by step, please send them as well.

Thank.

It only comes on when you are getting close to emptying the tank. REally weird setup IMO but Honda deemed it necessary to have it this way instead of a regular gauge that flashes to alert you to low fuel...

Yup, you probably are right on the limit of your reserve light coming on. Fill the tank and see if you still have the problem.

Mine does the same thing with a full tank. Reserve gauge comes on, tach and speedo do their thing and then the reserve disappears. Unless you mean when you actually push the start button to turn the engine over. But mine does all that before I click the killswitch back to run mode and let the fuel pump prime.

Mine comes on when I turn the key and the meters are doing there thing. Then it comes off right after all of that. I tried fulling the tank and stuff, but still the same. I will try it again and see what happens. I just find it weird that it is on it and it does stay on.

I've had reserve indicator stay on for a little after I just fill up but that's about it. I always just figured that it just needed to reset itself.

Are you saying it does a self check when the key is turned on then goes off when you start it? If it is full its probably normal, I'm going outside to have a look at mine. I know mine is functioning properly so here I go.

Ok, when you turn your key on the reserve light comes on for a second then goes out. Your reserve is probably working fine if that is what you are describing. So you have never run the tank low enough to see it come on...?
