Default regulator/rectifier comparison question

I got to geta regulator/rectifier for my F3. The F2 has the same part number so I know those are the same, so are the 900rr. The question: what is the number printed on the regulator/rectifier mean? The one off my F3 has SH833-12 then under that a small 5.5. One I found off a 900RR has SH633-12 under that a small 3.4. Those two parts have the exact same part number on bikebandit.com butI looked at one from a VT750, it has a different part number BUT the number printed on the part is SH633-12 with T9.9 under it.What do the numbers PRINTED on the reg/rec mean and what will interchange?

It should be batch numbers, when it was made, and where. I can't see why they would need to stamp anything other than that to differentiate the part, but a dealer ought to know for sure. These guys really do have good prices on new OEM. For me it's too much of a gamble with used electrical parts, usually I end up spending the same amount or more anyway.

If I had a stack of R/R's, I'd take them to a knowledgeable dealer and ask that they figure out which one is the newest or latest revision to the part and use that one. Like with CCT's, they started putting a blue dot on the revised ones to tell it apart from the old ones.

LOL @ the cct...yep those original ones were junk. I now have an APE manual adjuster on my bike. I'ts more tricky to install so i guess it's a trade off.

I don't even buy or use oem voltage r/r anymore, they all suck. Go aftermarket for one that has cooling fins, heat sink on it.

Just one more thing to check out is that many, many people with F2s and F3s have put on GSXR regulators on their bikes. I picked one up on eBay and will be installing over the winter. (the OE gets super hot in summer and literally feels like it will burn my leg)

If I remember correctly, the SH833-12 part is the part number from the manufacturer. I wasn't able to find what the 3.4 stuff was though. The batch number sounds very likely.

People that have the used ones think they are made of gold too! I think I'm going aftermarket this go around.

Actually my 900rr is out of comission right now due to these same problems. I've installed 3 new voltage R/R's and each one has burned out within 9 months. They usually fry when they get hot ( summer riding) or when the RPM's sing north of 6,000. My stator is toast, so is the battery and voltage r/r. I'll be fixing it all in a couple weeks. Oh yeah, i've gone through 7 batteries in 3 years lol.
