Default R/R troubles

so today i got in an R/R from a gixxer for my 98' F3, got all the wires in the right place and hooked up.
turn on the bikes ignition, nothing.
i then went through the steps in the manual to troubleshoot it, everything was good, except i did not get battery voltage when checking between the + and - wires going to the R/R. also, those two wires had continuity between them when the bikes ignition was on.

i know there are numerous threads about R/R issues, but i couldnt find one with a similary issue, if there is one please point me to it.
if not, has anyone had a similar problem and know where to look/how to fix it?
thanks.

Check the 30amp fuse under the seat. It is located in the housing for the starter relay.
You have to un-do the connection and the cover will hinge open to access it.

Not sure how you were checking for continuity, so can't guess on that one.
Glad you got the rest figured out though. ;-)
