Default possibly buying two bikes. Help

I recently found a guy seeling an 01 929 and an 02 954. He is selling both for 4000. Theproblem is that the 929 has a blow motor but everything is good on it. Hebought the 954 to take the motor out. He started to take it apart but just had a baby and needs the money. The 954 is in good condition he just liked the 929 better. So it could be put back together.I asked about a motor earlier this week on here andsomeonefoundthe 929 for $400 on craigslist. The guy had a very good knowledge of the parts and maintanence. He sent some pics and eveything looked good. I gonna go check it out tomorrow. I thought it was a good deal and with some time could have two good bikes, but just wanted some other opinions. THANKS any imput would be greatly appreciated.

I think if you are talking $4,000 AMERICAN DOLLARS and not 4000 pesos I think you can do better.

But if you are very mechanically inclined and have some experience and can spent another thousand or so for misc parts go for it. In the end you may wind up with one good bike and something to part out to recoup some of you costs.

It always sucks to work on a basket case and there will always be parts missing or broken, but if you have the time and extra money then it soulds like you could have two bikes for about $6000. I would really try to talk him down somemore.

I am definatly gonna talk him down a little bit. All the pieces are there for both bikes. With the exception of the blown motor, both bikes are complete, and getting it put together is the least of my worries. How much would you guys offer? Thanks for the input^^^^^

well I mean if the 954 is a good running bike...then just buy them both...get the 954 running, and then eventually get a new motor for the 929...fix it up a bit and sell if for way more than you payed for both....a decent 929 goes for around 7 grand where im at. Hell sell them both and get a brand new 1000rr or whatever fits your fancy!

That's what i was getting at. He's askin 4000 for both, just because the 954 isn't completely together, but that's not a problem for me.

well i finally got to golook at them today. They werent as apart as he made them to be. Basically the plasticfor the 954 is mint. The 929plastics havea few scrapes but they don't have any cracks. Both the plastics need to be put on each bike. The 954 just needs the muffler, guages and gas tank put on. As far as both of them go the 929 isn't perfect but the 954 is pretty close. Were in negotiations now[sm=massbounce.gif]
