Default Possibly buying a frankenstein F2, need advice

Okay, so my boss's husband has a Frankenstein 93 cbr 600 sitting in his garage. It has 97(F3) plastics, and he said he got a YZF engine for it. My question is would a yzf engine (sorry no specifics, can get if needed) fit without modification? Or should i make sure he gets it to fit before I buy it?

Oh, and it's all for 600 bucks. It'd need some adjustments, tuning, and a lot of cleaning before it ran. But I've got time. I'm talkin' "box of parts" fixin' up. He bought a wrecked one too so I'd get all the spare parts from it, including plastics and who knows what else.

I had to sell my original F4 to get out of a terrible loan, and I've been dieing since then to get one back, given enough time and work, do you guys think this would be worth it?

if the engine is from a yzf 600r, then i think you should just sell it and get the F2 motor. The 600r engine is not superior to the F2 and u might as well just make things easier because the F2 will be direct.

I would scrap the Yamaha motor idea, not only will it be a huge pain to integrate into the F2 but the older R6's are prone to 2nd gear failure.

For $600 you can turn it into a good bike for small coin, but it will be a LOT of work (you probably wont be riding it this year)

I would just sell the motor and get an F3 motor, better tranny and more horses.

Thanks for the responses guys. So far the consensus is sell the YZF and buy an F2/F3. Are there any big improvements in the F3 as compared to the F2? Or should I just go with which is cheaper?

And you really think it won't be ready this year? I only work a lil over 30 hours a week, and am perfectly willing to spend most of my spare time working on it.

The F3 is a much better engine, stronger internals and a smoother transmission, also rated at 10hp more than the F2 motor (if you use F3 carbs, airbox, ram-air)

If you are willing to spend the money to get it done quickly, rather than piecing it together scouring for cheap parts, you can get it done pretty quick... But it doesn't usually happen that way!

How much, estimated, should one pay for a complete F3 engine? And do you think the YZF would cover the cost?

Update! I called him again to ask what year the yzf was, and turns out the bike comes with an f2 motor, I just misheard him talking about putting a yzf into his racing cart. He said it runs well, with no smoke, just needs to be mounted. I'm much more optimistic about this deal now. I'm going to bedliner my plastics...probably white with orange/carbon-look decals. Gonna powdercoat my rims a matching orange or white down the road too.

First focus on getting the bike running well, then make it pretty
