Oil filter plug?

Hey guys I want to do some mods on my 2002 CBR 600 f4i and it seams like everywhere I look these oils filter plugs pop up, to me this sounds like a terrible idea, but I'm new to street bikes.

Never heard of an oil filter plug? Maybe it was an oil FILLER cap?

Oil filler plug maybe, but not a filter plug. The idea is to get more flow and filtering, not less.
