Default Noise after 5000rpm

Hi,

I have a 2001 F4. Recently its making some noise, if I rev it above 5000rpm. It feels like a resonant noise. I tried checking for any loose parts, but came up with nothing. I believe it is coming from the engine. Anybody has any idea?

thanks

It's your Cam Chain Tensioner Lifter (CCTL). On these bikes the CCTL have a tendency to become noisy after a while but it won't affect the bike mechanically. It's a fairly easy fix. Try doing a search and read up on it; highly discussed topic... LINK. < Web page's busted.

LOL, HUGE understatement. But, yeah. It's probably the CC smacking against the engine case. Here's the shortened versions of both sides of the debate:

Don't Fix It: Nobody has ever actualy experienced any sort of faliure due to a loose CCT, even after putting thousands of miles on it.

Fix It: It's not up to spec, thus, it's broken, thus, you should fix it. APE makes an amazing CCT that you can manually adjust whenever it gets loose, and it's only like $50.
