Default Noise at 5000rpm - reality or paranoia?

Dear all,

Ive owned my 06 rr for a few months now and i have noticed that at around 5000rpm ( mostly in 2 and 3rd gear) it makes a noise - like a vibrating screw - which doesnt sound right. Ive spoken to my local mecchanic on the phone and he said its usually the valve caps, that on the rr's vibrate a bit too much.

however it doesnt sound right - and why would i not have noticed the first day but two months in?

any advice? do you gutys have the same noise?

It's coming from the gas tank cover and the tank...the pieces vibrate right around that RPM range...there is a write up on every 600rr forum about this, so you should be able to find the fix if you do a search!

Yep, the fuel tank cover. There's a small piece of plastic rubbing up against the inside of the cover. I thought something was wrong at first too. Doesn't hurt to leave it alone. In fact, mine has gone away (bike's 3 months old now).
