no start
ok everyone, ive narrowed it down-i have no spark-all i did was change the air filter and spark plugs, with the same kind of plug and a k & n filter-i have a 2002 f4i-fuel is good -im getting fuel and the pump is running but like i said no spark-it ran fine before i did this so what could i have done ? any help i would be thankful for-thank you mm
yup, when i ground the plug to the engine or the valve cover i get no spark-this does not have any wires its a coil on plug set up-ive had the tank off 4-5 times and double checked everything i can see-i have no clue
You need to start from the battery all the way down to the plugs. Be sure you have a good battery, lots of no starts due to batteries that crank and seem good, but just arent. Another quick check is to put a new coil in or if you have a friend you can swap one out with. But be sure all the connectors are solid and wiring good. I would download a service manual and follow the checks. If you had to remove the pcm to replace the air filter, be sure to check the wires, terminals, etc for the pcm. Oh, there isnt spark at any cylinder at all correct?
corerect,i dont have spark at any plugs,i cant believe all the coils went bad at the same time-i have double checked all the connections-could it be the ign module went bad ?
could be the pulse generator. but you were no where near it, so it would be very odd that it would fail at the same time you changed things.
When you say you dont have spark and that you grouned it to the valve cover, you need to ground it to a bolt head as the valve cover itself is not grounded. If your unsure, a simple test light will show what it grounded and what isnt.
Do the simple things too. Cycle your kill switch. Its a far shot, but I've seen sticky killswitches cause huge headaches.

ok i took a good ground wire down to my bike and found that #2 cyl did not have spark, all the rest did,so i switched it with #3 coil and it did spark.so i would say that the coil is bad right ? but will 1 cyl not firing keep it from starting ? thanks guys
