Never reverse a motorcycle with the engine running?
your "mechanic"? I suggest you find a smarter mechanic. I back mine up from my porch with the engine runnin ALL the time. no bike I'm on has ever had a problem with this.
I called a mechanic and he said that when the bike is rolling backwards it can cause a spike in the flux capacitor. That in turn produces an excess of homotrons and might cause the bike to stall.

Now that would be a great application for the helmet mounted back up cam... at least your neck wouldn't get sore from having to turn your head all the time.
