Installing HIDs without projectors is blinding to oncoming traffic and probably not the best idea to do something that may cause a vehicle to swerve into your lane because the driver cannot see.

 

I hear this all the time but can you honestly say you or someone you know swerves towards the light coming at them on a road?
Of all my years driving and all the excuses I have heard for accidents that is the one I have never heard someone say other than hypothetical.

(I understand it is bright and can be difficult to see, But properly aimed and installed, It is life threatening)

 

if you want something bright, get a plug and play HID system, 35w is good for most people. and its very simple, just plug in the original harness to the HID ballast and plug in the bulb where the normal bulb goes, the extra 10 min is spent finding a good spot to hide the ballast. if you have H4 you will loose high beam (unless you get dual beam HID but its not a true HID system that way) but that being said, most people, will find that they wont need high beam once they are running HID's

NOW if you want somthing that will look and work like stock, goto your local parts store and get the best bulbs you can get. there are tons of companies out there that make good 'better that stock' bulbs, wagner, philips, sylvania, even GE is getting into it now. they all make good 'performance' lights for around $10-30 range. they will last as long, if not longer then stock bulbs, and will give you a bit more light too.

stay away from those 'blue' colored ones or the mirror ones and stuff like that, the film they put on the bulb, acts like a tint, it will color the light blue or white or what ever but will cut the spectrum down to those colors only so you get less light at the end of the day.

if brightness is not important to you. you can also get LED, they are generally dimmer then stock bulbs but they last for years and years. not so good as your main light but if you got a bunch of lights, the aux ones could be LED and they works just fine.
