I hate electrical bugs, so hard to diagnose, please excuse the long list of questions.

Is this a problem that you've always had or something that has developed recently?

You say the brake light doesn't come on normally. Is the bulb lit up for the headlights or is the bulb just off completely.

First thing to do is check the battery is healthy. Is the bike starting ok, is the battery putting out correct voltage & holding it?

Probably worth your while downloading a workshop manual or buying a Haynes manual & checking the wiring is correct.

Hi ,will the engine start, if so does the rear brake light work when you pull the front brake lever or brake pedal ,or neither, the f2 fuse is a 10amp, and I assume yours is the carbed version

Sorry I didn't see your reply to deak25, is it f4 fuse that you pull out and it works

No worries, you explained it better anyway CaBaRet.

Scottrichie; the reason for getting the workshop manual is to have a look at the wiring diagram & check everything is wired as it should be.

It may be something as simple as one of the bulb filaments have blown, or it may be there's an electrical gremlin in your system. As it's running normally, we can eliminate a charging problem, otherwise the engine would be struggling due to lack of battery charge.
