So im sitting at work with nothing to do and start thinking of how i can make my own carb sync tool. Tell me if yall think itll work.

If im right(rarely) all a carb sync tool does is measure the vacuum into each carb correct? So if i had 4 vacuum testers i could hook them up and get them to all match. This is what im thinking.

Mount them on a board and hook them up to the carbs and BAM i gotta carb sync tool right?

If the gauges are damped (eg the gauges fluid-filled to stop the needles fluttering) and if the gauges are uniformly accurate your idea is probably OK. But looking at the pic I don't think they are damped, or particularly accurate. If they aren't damped you'll need to fit restrictors to each gauge to damp the intake pulse, so you get a steady reading. Unless you're short of dough and have the time to fiddle around, go for the proper thing.

If you want to build your own, you can get reasonably cheap but good quality damped gauges and fittings, hoses, adaptors etc from industrial instrumentation suppliers.

Downside is that it only balances 2 carbs at once, so you need to do it in several steps on a 4-cylinder bike. Upside is that it's about as simple and cheap as you can get

 

Even if you just made two of them you would be able to use both at once. As long as you had the same amount of fluid in each on.

That would have been alot easier and cheaper. I still made mine for about 23 bucks. not bad.
