Default Carb sync with home-made sync tool

I followed the directions for one of the home-made carb sync tools (shown below) and synced the carbs. It works beautifully and the bike idles smoother and runs noticeably better. They were way out of sync.

The sync screws were surprisingly sensitive, so it took a number of fine adjustments to get it right.

The hardest part was getting the adapter screws into the vacuum ports. It's just so tight in that space.

That is a really nice home made sync tool. I made one but it is only a 2 cylinder sync. I really need to make one like yours so I know it is accurate.

Did you synch your carbs around idle rpm or cruising rpms?

I sync'd at idle as per the Haynes manual and I was amazed at the improvement. The 4 carb sync is the way to go and easy to make.

What kind of fluid did you use in your manometers?

I've yet to do my bike but definitely need to.I've done other bikes, but one thing is baffling me about these damn carbs... where the hell are the adjuster screws?!?!?

Care to reference for me in a picture?

You don't need to remove the airbox - only the gas tank, but I took this photo when I was looking for the vacuum ports. There is a screw between 1-2, 2-3 and 3-4 carbs. A flash light helps because they are pretty far back. You can clearly see the 2-3 carb screw in this photo.

.............I cannot understand - why you all you complicate things - you have to remove the carburettors to them apart to clean better - then before reattaching them to adjust the throttle position! these days I will make some pictures in the service of "bench" which I made myself for 1-2 hours - so I can give you an idea and to obtain a visual image - for easy and high quality way to repair ...................
