K&K HP-1010 oil filter on an F4i?
I've seen a lot of references to using a Honda Civic oil filter on the CBR600, so I checked out the K&N website and found that they specify model HP-1010 for the Civic. I like the K&K ones because of the nut welded on the end. Anyhow, I picked one up, and it looks like the mounting dimensions are the same as the KN-204 I normally use on my F4i, but the internal construction looks different.
Does anyone have any experience with this filter on the CBR600? It looks like it'll fit, but the different internal appearance is giving me pause. Thanks.

Normally, I'm all against buying "motorcycle specific" products, for I believe 99% of it is marketing, but with oil filters I do believe most manufacturers do develop them for motorcycles, with certain flow rates & bypass valve pressures in mind. If it were me, I'd ditch the filter and get a proper one. Not worth the $10.
If you're still adamant about using it, maybe post some pics of the two.

It's not so much the price difference as the availability that interests me - I can get the HP-1010 off the shelf at Farm and Fleet, but I need to special order the KN-204, at least from the auto parts stores around here.
The first photo, on the left, shows the motorcycle filter, KN-204. That nubbin in the center has a spring-looking object in the middle of it, and obviously there's the different hole pattern around the perimeter. HP-1010 is on the right, and doesn't have any sort of projection up in the center. Thread size and gasket diameter appear to be the same for both. Not being an oil filter expert, I don't know what those features are called, or their function, which is why I'm soliciting some guidance here.

There's a few guys around that use the Civic filters mainly because they're bigger and hold more oil. The difference between those two is that on the motorcycle one, the bypass valve spring is located in the front to keep it short, and the anti-drainback valve is nitrile, vs. the red one which is silicone. The one has more holes, but the other one has bigger holes, lol.
They both have the same threads and diameter, so it looks like you're OK.
Here's an informative page on filters, LINK.
