Default inside fuel tank question

When I open my fuel cap there is a little bar in there, going across. Out of curiousity, does that serve any purpose besides me using it as a 'fill to' line?

It's there on my F4i also. I always fill to the neck with the bike leaned over on the sidestand.

What I'm saying is that it's not a "fill to" line. It's likely an air vent for the fuel pump but I can take a look at mine if you need.

I assumed it's there to provide some structural rigidity. The tank is really just a big steel can, and needs some internal support.

off topic but scrufdog, do you have any pics of your bike in a gallery or anything? It looks like you took off the yellow decals on the side from what I can tell in your avatar, and Id like to see what that windscreen looks like, as I have the same exact bike. Let me know, thanks!
