i would ride it and it would start fine amd run ok every time, then after about 3 weeks i just went out to start it one day and it ran all wierd and eventually sputtered out and died. so i changed the plugs. and it started fine for another 3 weeks or so.

why would it just run fine and when i park it just not start?
Just thought of something else. Are you riding it regularly? When you say "after about 3 weeks I just went out to start it..." does that mean after starting just about every day for three weeks this started up again OR after mostly sitting for those three weeks it's doing it again?

and i had to eliminate the fuel pump due to it not working. could this let unwanted gas into the carbs?
the fuel pump has something in it blocking gas from pumping, but it makes noise and pushes air.
is there any way of cleaning it? its crimped together so i cant take it apart.

not sure if this is part of the problem.

and if the carbs are leaking gas into the cylinders, des that mean i have to rebuild the carbs?
Just re-read through this again (hey it's late...). A lot of 87-89 Hurricane 1000 guys ditch the fuel pumps and use the '90+ 1000f vacuum feed petcocks when they do this, but I don't know much about the 600's, sorry. With just an open petcock I suppose that might tend to help it run rich (especially on startup because the carbs would be full of fuel) and if so the plugs could foul fairly quickly. Add carburetors that need to be adjusted and synched, plus a charging system or battery issue, and that sounds a lot like what's going on here.
