Default Howling Noise

I have a CBR 1000rr that just recently started making a howling noise. It almost sounds like a bearing howl. The dealer claims that it is that the chain is too tight. If anything the chain was too loose and I know that that is not the problem. They want to basically take the bike apart so they can turn a profit. I hope someone else has had this problem and knows what it is so that I can save a bit of money. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure you don't have a vent in your helmet open when you are riding. The bike shouldn't be howling it should be roaring.

yeah I would call it a warranty issue and bark at the dealer.. they need to be properly motivated to fix it... tell em you'll call cooperate if they don't get the lead out.

A tight chain can F8@k up your output shaft bearing and seal so get the chain adjusted correctly its not worth it in the long run.

It is not a vent on my helmet. I had a friend ride it and he heard it as well while using his helmet. I think it is a warranty issue, but of course the dealer is talking about charging nine million hours to fix it and I know that they will find a way to make it my fault. I am going to get it back today and adjust the chain and set it right where it has always been. When the noise continues I am going to take it back and get very pissed. I just hope that someone else has had this problem that way I can get it fixed right and be able to ride what little riding weather we have left.

Try taking it to another mechanic - not neccessarily a dealer - and have them give you an idea.

If it is a warranty isssue contact you area Honda Rep, to make sure your dealer isn't getting medieval on you... giving you the shank up the bum. Obviously, you want all parts that they might say are bad/needs replacing.

Best-o'-luck.

Cheers
