Exclamation HELP! CCT install gone awry!! **PICS**

So my bike is in 50 pieces right now, because I can't get my CCT back in!

Removed the old cct no problem. When I go to put the new OEM cct back in, there is already tension from the cam chain so that I can't even begin to thread the 2 bolts back into the engine. I have been trying to slightly angle it and just get one single thread started but to no avail. WTFFFFF

I'm sure this problem doesn't even exist with the APE cct. What does the 'key' they included with my OEM cct do? Do I need to somehow release the tension on my OEM and then use the key to add the tension again?

UPDATE: mission accpomplished. See pics below:

Hrmm so I have discovered that my new OEM cct is already stuck in the extended position, and that one must crank it back with the key or a screwdriver. Well the supplied key bent on my attempt to unscrew, so now I have to go buy this rare screwdriver as none of mine fit correctly.

That's the thing, when I got it the key was already out. I bought it off bikebandit.com and it was packaged in this plastic bubble wrap and the key was just laying in there.

It's the double blue dot version of the OEM CCT. On this thread they discuss using a screwdriver to back the tensioner out again, like it's not a big problem: http://cbrworld.net/forums/4/85183/ShowThread.aspx

Update. I broke down and bought a tiny screwdriver and the cct backed right out--then I held it with my hand and slipped the key back in. I installed it and just started the bike, it sounds good. I am about to take a ride for further analysis.

Wow guys thanks for all of the replies. My bike feels like a new bike! Now there is this tiny clicky noise that I hear that is RPM-based, sounds like it's probably something minor like the valves. The bike just feels so much better now I love it. 6 hours later

Scope out the pics of my CCT disassembled. Looks like the spring was the component that failed.
