Default Headlight and taillight out - brake lights and indicators work

2006 CBR 600f4i - any ideas what might cause both headlight and taillights to stop working? Indicators and brake lights work fine. No headlights and no highbeams with the main switch. If I use the button to flash the high beams, the highbeams and headlights come on while the switch is held.

I thought it might be a stuck starter button, but not sure if that would kill the tail lights too?

any help would be appreciated.

I presume that you are not in the US. The 2006 F4i made for the US market does not have that button to flash the high beams. So the wiring is going to be different. My wiring diagram does not show a switch like that. The headlight and the tail lights are fed by 2 different fuses, so they don't have a common supply. Any other issues that you notice? What area of the world are you in? Would help identify what wiring would apply.

Apologies, yeah im in Europe.
I had an issue with the battery a few weeks back, I think some water got in when I was washing it. I pulled the seat off and let it all dry, tested and recharged the battery on a trickle charger and it’s started back up ok. The lights seemed to come on and go off the last ride I was on, then yesterday I switched on and nothing.
I have a wiring diagram for my model and it seems to show the same as you are seeing, nothing directly linked between the two sets. The fuse for the headlights has the instrument panel and indicators on too I believe and they are all working fine.

Does your high beam work? And I'm not asking about that flash switch as you indicated that it was working.

I would start with checking any connections between the left handlebar switches and the headlight. Where in the wiring diagram does it show that switch for flashing your headlight? Is that switch on the left handlebar? Here you can see the connector for it on US bikes. I'd be checking that.
