Default Have Sprocket / Chain Questions

Hey all,

I have a 1993 CBR 600 F2 and was considering a sprocket / chain change out. I have heard a lot about the 520 conversion but was wondering if I could get away with doing -1 on the front sprocket only?? Does this cause premature chain wear?....and will the stock size chain still fit???
Also, if anyone knows of a reasonably priced place to get sprockets and chains that would be great as well.
Any and all info on sprockets / chains and manufacturers to go through would be greatly appreciated.

I hope to get pics posted as soon as I get her back together!

You dont need a 520 kit. It will just make your chain thinner and it will snap easier. A -1 in the front will do fine with a stock chain also. You will feel a noticeable difference in Torque in the low end so dont flip the bike over on yourself.

That is what I figured. Thanks for the confirmation....

Just to be sure....What is the stock tooth count on the front sprocket and do you have any links that sell sprockets and chains (reasonably priced) for the 93 CBR 600 F2?

Thanks again-

Try www.kneegraggers.com or www.bikebandit.com for sprockets & chains.

If you go -1 in the front then you'll have to take a link out of your chain. Stock length is 108.

As if the F3 is going to do this? Maybe in a VERY rare circumstance.

What are you talkin about. Any bike has the power to wear out a chain and it snap A 520 will just do it faster cause its thinner
Why would you seperate the F3 from any other 600cc bike that will do it too.

Im not singling out ANY bike, Im just saying that 145hp 1000cc bikes are running around with these and are not SNAPPING them. Therefor logic tells me that an F3 would be fine. Will it wear out faster? Possibly. If it's worn enough could it break the chain? I suppose. But if you let your chain get bad enough, even a 630 wont hold up.
