Default Grip Removal - 08 cbr1000rr

I checked the DIY section and also the cbr1000 section, but found nothing specific to my question. This is a rather simple question, but one I want to find the best way to do so I don't screw up the grips. I have an 08 cbr1000rr and just purchased some gel grips for it. I want to remove the stock grips in tact if at all possible. Does anyone know of an easy way to get this done? Thanks.

I dont think there is a good way to remove them intact. The easiest way would be to take a razor blade and put cut along the length of the grip, then peal them off.

You may try a heat gun.... but I have never had success with em. I've always just cut em off..

^^ Yep. I just pulled off the stock grips and they peel off and go inside out........a heat gun helps break the bond between the glue and grip a little. You won't ruin your grips, but you will have one hell of a time getting them off.

At least you don't have to take off the entire grip assembly. Now THAT'S a huge pain in the ***.

Small air nozzle and patience. Personally I got the small air nozzle but after grip #1 I lost patience and just cut grip #2. Stockers are reasonably cheap to replace but understandable if you wanna save them. Current bike I just got some tennis racket wrap and wrapped the stock grips (a tip from another rider). Makes the grips a bit wider but I got big hands and the stock grips were too small anyways.
