Fuel pump on 600F1
Can someone please explain when the fuel pump on a F1 600 originally should turn on when you wake the bike up? I expected the pump to start to prime once the ignition is turned on and the kill switch is in run. I don’t here any noise from the pump until I actually engage the starter, the bike is running fine, I’m just trying to understand the logic behind how it works.
Thanks a bunch

If it's a 2001 F1 then it's ?injected? and the pump will cut in as soon as you wake the bike to pressurise the fuel line.
It’s a ‘90. I don’t think the carb bowls were full, and I even had the fuel turned off. That’s why it piqued my interest. I went down a rabbit hole and did some testing with the multi-meter. I thought I had a bad kill switch or fuel pump regulator. I ordered and installed a new regulator and nothing changed. Unplugged the regulator and jumped the wires straight from the ignition and the pump turned on (I was hoping it would so I wasn’t looking at a new pump). Just the fact that I don’t think the bowls were full and I wasn’t getting any action on the pump had me concerned.

If so, don’t overthink it :-)
The fuel pump is not activated by simple ignition, but rather when the starter is engaged. This helps prevent unnecessary wear on the pump and improves safety in the event of an incident. The pump activates to force fuel into the system the moment you start the engine.

On a Honda CBR600F, the fuel pump primes for about 2-3 seconds when you turn the ignition key to "ON" to pressurize the fuel system. It stops after that unless the engine is started. If it doesn't prime, there may be an issue with the fuel pump relay, fuse, or wiring.
