Default Front brake problem

Hi to all fellow bikers, I thought I would go the cbr forum to ask this question, in which that it does not pertain my cbr 900rr. I have a 84 Honda V65 Magna also. I was riding home from work(3 miles one way) and I notice that my front dual calipers(dual pistons) was locking up and starting to show smoke and overheating. Also unable to move the bike into the garage. The front brake lever had no play in it what so ever. When the calipers cooled down, I was able to move the bike. The front brake lever had some little play. When I pulled the lever in and release several times the caliper would tighten up again. Is it the calipers, front master cylinder or the portional valve? Any answers to figure what is the problem on my front brakes. Any solutions would be very helpful.

Thanks to all

Sounds like you need to clean out your entire brake system. Air, dirt, gummy bs, all builds up in there if you don't change the fluid.

On a bike of that year range, I would suggest cleaning the entire braking system, changing pads, new fluid, etc.

Probably stuck pistons in the caliper caused by mung build up. BUT, time for a complete rebuild of master and calipers. Might as well replace the lines too.

The crimped ends of the hose tend to pinch the hose when rust starts to form

Is the brake fluid form 1985 too. That was one of my all time fav's. Even the built in wobble over 120. The days of being better than the bike are all memories to me now.

I want to say thank you to all who responded. I will start with the calipers first and of coarse with new brake fluid. I'll keep you bikers posted later on(when I get done). Great job to one and all.

Thanks again
