Default Factory Pro Shift Kit, EVO Star

I have an 08 600RR that won't go into 1st gear from N when at a red light. I thought that this was kinda dangerous, if I need to move right away, I shouldn't have to fiddle with the shifting. This bike has less than 1thousand miles on it. NowI know from searching that this is a common problem and my local dealer won't be able to fix it.
So I called Factory Pro and ordered the Evo Star shift kit. It was over $230 shipped. When it showed up on my door step a week later, I noticed that they sent me the one for an 03-06 cbr600RR. Well I ordered the one for the 07 and later models. So I called them up and explained that they send me the wrong one, they guy on the phone says, " Well I dunno, I think it'll fit. I haven't installed one on a late model before."
So I explained again that their website sells one specifically for the 07 and later but the package says 03-06.Then he says, "Well just send it back for a refund if you’re not happy."
WTF? I don't want a refund, I want the right kit!
All I can say is that I won't be buying anything else from that company ever again.

The model number for the 03-06 and 07 shift kit is the same. SHFT-EVO-H21-KT

It should fit. If it doesn't then its on you for ordering the shift kit because they sent you what you asked for.

As far as I'm aware most sportbikes have this problem with shifting into first if your at a stop in a weird position.

My 06 cbr1000rr will always go into 1st from neutral. It will clunk some but will always go in without "having to fiddle with the shifting".

Haven't had any problems with my 1000 either. Might need to just give alittle more pressure.

You should not have any problem going into 1st gear. The only time that can happen is if the engine is turned off and the engagement dogs in the transmission aren't lined up right. But when the engine is running your idler gears in your tranny are always spinning somewhat even when clutch it pulled in. You need to take your bike in and complain. Make them listen and you can even call Honda America Customer Relations too, and you can tell the dealership that your are bringing your bike in that too, so then they know you are serious and that they can't just dismiss it, because if they do and honda gets involve and takes your side, they'll get in trouble. So they will have to investigate and diagnose. But if they are still saying that it is you and not the bike, ask them to show you what you are doing wrong, and to bring another known good bike to compare. Call them on their BS. Let us know what happens? Goodluck

Actually, what he describes is a newbie mistake that most of us grow out of. You are most likely pulling in the clutch and breaking. Then when you are stopped you are trying to shift through more than one gear.

You need to learn to rev match and downshift through every gear coming to a stop. Also, why are you ever in neutral?

Also, let the clutch out into the friction zone a little while trying to shift into first. Itll hit just fine.

Default factory pro star shift kit.

I have never had any problem with factory pro service or products. What they sell is some of the best and their service is great. I have personally seen them put one in on a gsxr 1000 and the result was very satisfactory. I will have them put one in my 2005 repsol.
