F4I - couple problems/questions
Hey there, new to the forum. First post!
I'm still fairly new to riding and not sure what the problem is. I noticed the other day my F4i was riding a little bumpy, or jumpy? in 1st and 2nd gear, like the bike lurched forward as i was cruising through the neighborhood. I also have noticed that the bike has been idling higher than usual, off and on. There is no FI light, and i replaced both the IAT and map sensor on it not long ago so i'm not sure what else it could be, or if the two problems are related?
Any ideas or suggestions? lemme know what you think! thanks

the first thing I would check would be the chain. if its too loose, it will create a jumpy feeling as the bike deals with the excess slack. Also, if the chain is old, rusty or not properly maintained with lube, the links can stick and the won't make a smooth transitions across the sprockets. This is also more noticable in lower gears, especially if your just cruising at a slow speed.
concerning the varing idle. It could be a sign of a fuel pressure regulator starting to fail. Its not really sign in itself, But its a common issue with the F4i. Just something to keep an eye on.

If the chain is newer, its probably just loose. They stretch quite a bit initially.
As for the FPR, the most common issue is the diaphram failure. You can pull the vacuum line off and see if there is any sign of gas. If there is, then it is failing. But, it really doesn't sound like it is, I was just throwing htat out there so you knew about the common issue.
