Default f4 fuel issues, seeking info

hi everybody. got a nice semi-stock 2000 f4 w/ 26k on it. never abused or rode hard. about seven months ago i began getting a hiccup at low rpms pulling from a stop. had a beautiful baby boy and bike sat for close to 6 months. last month i started up and had same problem, this time leaking fuel. changed oil, plugs, and gas. my uncle pulled carbs and cleaned needles and jets. replaced gaskets in fuel rails between carb 1&2, 3&4 and stopped fuel leak. now bike wont hold idle. full choke @ around 3000 rpms and it idles, cut choke it dies. give it gas it dies. replaced fuel filter and no better. discnted the fuel pump and pulled line to side of bike. with ignition on, pump has about 2 hard seconds of pressure then fuel just trickles. is it back presure sensitive or should it continue to flow freely. i need to get her singing again, the weather is gettin nice. any info or sugestions are greatly apreciated. also, when it does idle, it sounds like its missing or not running all cylinders, maybe firing wrong. thanks for any of your ideas...

You should sync the carbs. Theres a write up on how to do this. just do a search. That might not solve your problem, but it needs to be done anyways.

The fuel pump will not continue to run with just the ignition on. It will prime and then shutoff till the bike is running. That is controlled by the ECM reading the pulse sensor. I imagine the pump is fine but you can hotwire it and using a Volume measuring device measure the output. the How to is in the service manual. If you havent synced the carbs then definatley do that. as for not firing right, the coil wires can only go one way so it should be firing right unless its jumped time which I highley doubt. Also have you checked the valves? they very well may need adjusted and can cause this issue.

Ditto to the carb sync. I re jetted my f4 and put the carbs back on to run it and sync them, when I had it running to sync them the bike ran like it wasn't firing on all four cylinders. Once I got the carbs synchronized it ran fine. You might foul plugs at first when you are syching them, I did. Good luck
