how hot does the exhaust system get on a bike? i wants to steel wool my header and exhaust and paint it black

I would reccommend using a rattle can of 1200degree grade exhaust paint. Prime it first with the same temp. grade stuff and then paint it black. With 1200 degree protection you should be okay
