Default Engine Oil

So I have a 2006 CBR600RR and I was looking at manual and it says to use 10w-40. But the guy from the honda store says its alright to use 20W-50. Is this correct or not?

20W is for higher engine temps . 20W protects from 0F up while 10W-30 protects from -20F up. so for a higher year round temp average like southern california or southern florida, its good because it never gets close to freezing. its more viscus than 10W. 10W is a more general and protects at a higher range in the range of temps. so it will be alright depending on where you live, wherever that is

Cool.... Thanks for the info. I just question the advice that is given by the reps here at the honda store. They seem like a bunch of schmucks!! I live in NM.
