Default Engine noise - normal or not?

Just recently got an 05 600rr with 28,000 on it. I have recently kind of noticed somewhat of a ticking sound. It seems to be coming more from the throttle side of the bike. I have pulled off the cct and that is working fine plus its not a rattling sound that is a associated with the cct. My next idea is the valves may need to be adjusted. I have read that it could just be me noticing the fuel injectors and that i am just being paranoid. I understand that its hard to determine sounds via text but any input is good input.

Thanks

It could be valve-ticking. When was the last adjustment?

Could also be an exhaust leak.

I had my bike for a little bit and it's always had a faint ticking to it.

I honestly don't know when it was done last. It's probably due for it. Looking through the service manual and reading up on adjusting the valves I'm a little nervous to do myself, but I also don't have a trusted mechanic and don't want to have them drum up work.

the valve lash usually goes DOWN in a ohc with a shim/buck style valve - so your valves should tighten up - and that won't cause a tick.

adjusting the valves is a bitch - but checking them is not. all you need is a set of feeler gauges from your local autozone. all you'll do is pop off the valve cover and check the clearances....
