I just changed the oil last weekend & taking it out for the first ride it was running hotter then usual. I'm using the same oil I've always used (Mobil 1) & the oil level is fine.

Ordinarily, she'll run about 174 on the highway & about 185 - 190 around town. However, she's running about 185 on th highway & will zip up to 225 at a stoplight (then the fan kicks in). In addition, the tank is WAY hot between mah legs & it's never done that before...

Other than the oil change I didn't do anything else...any ideas???

 

its normal, these things run hot.

 

Has it been unusually hot or humid where u are like in the rest of the US lately. I notice mine runs hotter when the humidity is up( even at night).

 

Did you check your coolant level? 185 isn't too bad imo.

 

Mine runs between 200-230 on hot/humid days, so it's nothing out of the ordinary.

I forgot to mention that after I changed the oil I washed the bike, during which I sprayed water into the FRONT of the radiator to get rid of bugs & such. After searching the forum & realizing my error & went back out & squirted water (gently of course) through the BACK of the radiator and a cornucopia o' crap came flying out the front (bugs, dirt, body parts, a differential from a '72 Chevy Nova...ok, maybe I exxagerated a bit)...back to normal.

I'm not a 'tard so stop looking at me like that!

 

Please tell me ONE more time that running that hot is normal. Today i JUST gotten a f4i and (3 hours ago) and I **** my pants looking at the temp gauge!!! its running like 195 around town and like 185ish on the open road but the temp climbs really fast like 210 + at stoplights. And i have the same issue with the really really warm tank. I freaked out because ive only had it for 3 hours!! I love this forum! Unless i read this thread i wouldve been having some bad sleepless nights thinking i got a bad overheated motor!
