Exclamation What is normal engine temp?

My '04 F4i gets as hot as 230F when it's hot out and I stop at a red light. My fan kicks on around 220F though so I have never really seen my temp go over 230F. Is that too high? If not, what temperature is too hot for my bike?

Looking at your temperatures, that's perfectly normal and your cooling system and fan works perfect!
While cruising around 45mph mine runs at 178 or so and stopping at the lights makes it go up to the temperatures you mentioned.

Check your oil level, mine was a little low and my temperature was getting up to 190 if I was riding at 25mph, filling up some more oil makes it run a little cooler now.

230 is fine. Mine will get as hot as 232. If it gets above 235 start to be cautious and if it goes above 240 then I would be worried. The bike will shut off at 250-252.

in a hot day, when the bike is not moving in a traffic...mine gets as high as 228.2F/109C, then the fans kick in and cool down to 106C or 107C, then it rises to 109C and down to 106C again....

the temperature starts to drop when it starts moving.....not sure if this is normal though....but mine never gets higher than 109C so far...
