High pitched engine noise... normal?
I have a 95 F3 with just under 50k miles on it. It runs like a beaut, and I'm glad I decided on a bulletproof Honda. There's just one thing (isn't there always) I would change if I could: when the bike's on - doesn't matter if its just warming up, at normal operating temp, idling or in 6th gear powerband - the engine makes this high-pitched chirping sound, almost like a whine, but more like a steady cricket chirp. Almost like a noisy belt in a car.
Now, having just bought the bike I took her to the local shop and had the guy give it a once over. I can hold my own with a wrench, but I wanted a thorough check-up from the neck-up. Other than adjusting the manual cct, he said the bike was running great. He's right, it is, but it still chirps like a cricket. I do plan on picking up an aftermarket can once I have the dough (right now its got a stock F4 can on it so when I'm at a light the chirping is pretty much the only thing people around me hear), but there has to be something else I can do to reduce/eliminate the noise.
So, do I have a shot at killing the cricket chirp, or should I leave well enough alone???

RE: High pitched engine noise... normal?
have you taken the fairings off to try and figure out what side its coming from? Another thing that will help with that is a long screwdriver or mechanics stethoscope, and hold it against the running engine, then the handle side to your ear (carefully) and try to narrow it down to a specific area. I'd start around the water pump.
