Default engine

I got a 2004 cbr 600rr with 4300 miles on it. Its my first bike so I am not familiar with engines that rev to 15000. I know alot about cars from fixing them myself over time you get a general knowledge of what noises are normal and what are not. The engine has a little tick and nock but it doesn,t get louder when I rev it up. When the clutch is out it makes a little grinding sound I pull it in it goes away. The bike runs strong and I rarely romp the **** out of it. In hot weather the temp got up to 233 in bull**** traffic, is that within safe temp range. This bike is my pride and joy and I want to get the most out of it I can through maintinence and advice. My s10 I used to red lined at 5500 rpm so cruising at 7,8 thousand rpm feals a little strange. Is it cool to cruise at that or higher rpms for long rides. Thanks for any info. Piece out!

Is the knocking coming from the gas tank? Might be the fuel you're using, try a higher octane. Not sure about the clutch grinding thing, you sure that's not just your engine in gear? Temp range is fine for hot weather like that in stop and go traffic, as long as it goes down once you start moving. The bike red lines at 15 000rpm, so why wouldn't you rev the snot out of it? You're secondary injectors don't even kick in 'til 8000rpm. Quit being a p***y and ride that thing like it was made for [sm=joke.gif]( but seriously, twist that wrist and rip it!)

well the cams non hydraulic so it'll make some noise, and that grinding, if i understand you right, happens in neutral correct?...its the input shaft of your transmission still turning. you just dont have it synchronized to any given gear yet. totally normal. cars make those same sounds too, just the cabin muffels the sound.
