Default Clutch rattle

Hello guys!

My bike: Honda CBR 600 F4i.

There is some noise in the warmed up engine after a short trip (metal rattling) I don’t think that it’s a cam chain tensioner as the noise disappears when the clutch is pressed. After the friction discs have been replaced the noise did not disappear. The clutch bearing has been checked. It’s norm. I stopped at the replacement of the clutch basket bearing. I noticed that clearance of the old bearing is slightly bigger than that of the new basket bearing. Hey guys, has anybody had some similar problems?

Thanks!!!

This is totally normal. My 01 does the same. I can get rid of mine if I slightly pull in the clutch. Move on...

Clutch rattle is sometimes caused by out of balance carbs, so they may need balancing. If the clutch basket bearing has more clearance than normal then this might be a contibuting factor? It's always better in the long run to replace anything you're not happy about in the clutch area. Out of balance carbs though were usually the cause of clutch rattle on early multi-cylinder engines when they first appeared over here from Japan, so I'd have them checked first.
