Default charging problem

hey i'm new to the site and thought i'd start right off by asking for some help. haha, i'm not online much but any input would help. i bought a 2000 929RR that someonetried toturn into a stunt bike. i've rebuilt the bike for the most part. my battery is not being charged. i've talked to the dealership and it took them awhile to figure out the stator is my alternator and it also runs my tach. the bike runs great, but the tach does not work and the battery isn't being chargered. i can't get the bike to start off of the battery with the charger, but i can start the bike with no battery and only jumper cables off ofmy truck.the guy before me had a lot of cut wires and i've gone thru the bike in every which way. the stator wires (3 of them)are all yellow and he has cut the connection end off of it and also the end off of the RECTIFIER, REGULATOR. the wires (3 of them)comming off of that are also yellow and are all wired together how do i test it? if u can help let me know thanks.
